A total of 800 individuals and 200 collectives were honored the titles of the National March 8th Red-banner Holder and the National March 8th Red-banner Collective respectively at an award ceremony with the theme of promoting the great spirit of anti-epidemic battle held in Beijing on September 29.
Organized by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the National Health Commission and the Political Work Department of Central Military Committee, the award ceremony aimed to commend women role models who participated in the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and promote the great spirit of the anti-epidemic battle.
Vice Premier Sun Chunlan, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and Shen Yueyue, Vice-Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and President of the ACWF, presented awards to the individual and collective representatives at the ceremony.
Huang Xiaowei, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Vice-President and First Member of the Secretariat of the ACWF, read out the commendation decision at the ceremony.
During the anti-epidemic fight, Chinese women from all walks of life resolutely implemented the decisions of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core. Among them, countless role models stuck to their posts, and dedicated themselves to joint prevention and control work and building stringent lines of defense across society. Women medical workers have fought with bravery, protected others' lives at the cost of their own and made extraordinary contribution to the anti-virus battle.
The recipients are expected to cherish their hard-won honors, and continue to act as role models while making more contributions to the epidemic prevention work and economic and social development.
The ACWF called on Chinese women to learn from the recipients, carry forward the great spirit of anti-epidemic battle, take the lead in practicing the core socialist values, and contribute to achieving the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, building a modern socialist China and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
